Position Overview: Clinical Research Assistant / Clinical Trial Associate

Summary:

The Clinical Research Assistant provides essential hands-on clinical and administrative support to Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) and site leadership. This position is directly involved in executing protocol-required patient procedures, managing study documentation, assisting with participant recruitment, and maintaining strict compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Clinical & Patient Procedures: Assist CRCs with protocol-required patient visits, including performing phlebotomy, IV placement, injections, vital signs, and ECG/EKG collection.

• Consent & Recruitment Support: Support participant recruitment, outreach, and scheduling efforts to meet enrollment targets. Assist with obtaining and documenting informed consent per federal and IRB regulations.

• Documentation & Data Integrity: Maintain complete, accurate source documentation and Case Report Forms (CRFs) in accordance with GCP and site guidelines. Log patient assessments and study data reliably.

• Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Promptly escalate and report Adverse Events (AEs) to supervisors and investigators. Maintain strict patient confidentiality, HIPAA standards, and ethical compliance.

• Trial Logistics & Lab Management: Organize and manage inventory for study supplies, central lab kits, and clinical trial materials.

• Team Communication: Communicate effectively across the research team, ensuring all study-related communications are accurately documented and a professional, compassionate environment is maintained.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required (Degree preferred).

• Schedule & Availability: Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday (Full-Time) within one of the following shifts based on site needs:

  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

• Core Competencies: Strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a compassionate, professional demeanor with research participants.

• Commitment: Genuine interest in pursuing a long-term career in clinical research, healthcare, or medicine, with a commitment to at least one year in the role.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Health Sciences, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, Pre-Med, or a related field (Recent graduates strongly encouraged).

• Clinical Experience: Medical Assistant (MA) background or prior experience performing vital signs, phlebotomy, injections, and ECGs.

• Industry Exposure: Prior exposure to clinical research, patient care, medical office workflows, or familiarity with GCP guidelines.

• Growth Mindset: High motivation to learn clinical trial operations and take on increasing responsibility over time.
