Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Physician Billing Specialist to join their team. The primary responsibilities include claim processing, payment administration, and managing the revenue cycle through effective use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to ensure timely and accurate billing and collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Claim Processing: Prepare, review, and electronically transmit medical claims to payers, ensuring immediate follow-up on unsent or rejected claims.
- Verification of Benefits: Validate patient coverage, copays, deductibles, and authorization requirements prior to service delivery.
- Payment Administration: Execute prompt posting of insurance and self-pay receipts, maintaining daily financial reconciliations.
- Accounts Receivable Follow-Up: Work aging accounts systematically to resolve denials, appeal rejections, and secure full payment.
- EHR Task Management: Maintain daily oversight of Epic WQs to prevent backlogs in the revenue cycle.
- Billing Inquiry Resolution: Research coding or coverage issues alongside clinical teams to secure correct claim adjudication.
- Patient Account Services: Field incoming inquiries regarding statements, accept payments, and negotiate structured payment options.
- Reporting & Compliance: Produce routine collections, A/R, and aging reports while upholding all federal and state privacy laws (HIPAA).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Stay current with billing rules, payer policies, and coding updates.
Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, specifically Epic billing software, along with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Billing & Coding Expertise: Deep understanding of medical coding, reimbursement models, and end-to-end insurance claim processes.
- Communication & Patient Relations: Superior written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to handle patient interactions with empathy, tact, and professionalism.
- Precision & Autonomy: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, paired with a self-motivated, proactive approach to managing daily priorities.
- Teamwork & Ethics: Strong interpersonal skills for building collaborative workplace relationships, combined with an uncompromised commitment to HIPAA and patient privacy.
Additional Requirements
- Flexible schedule with options to work from 7AM - 4PM or 8AM - 5PM, with a 32-hour minimum workweek.
- Flexible arrangement for two days in person and two days remote work.
