Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (Primary Care Clinic) to support physicians and advanced practice providers in a primary care clinic setting. The role involves providing both clinical and administrative assistance, preparing patients for visits, assisting with examinations and procedures, coordinating patient care, and promoting efficient clinic operations while ensuring exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaint.
- Review and update medical history, medications, allergies, and immunization records in the EMR.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during office visits and minor procedures.
- Administer medications, injections, and immunizations as directed and permitted by state regulations.
- Perform point-of-care testing, including blood glucose, rapid strep, influenza, COVID-19, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, and EKGs.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens for testing.
- Perform phlebotomy, if applicable.
- Remove sutures or staples, perform wound care, and change dressings under provider direction.
- Educate patients on medications, preventive care, chronic disease management, and follow-up instructions.
- Clean, disinfect, and stock exam rooms while maintaining infection prevention standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Current CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA certification preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- One year of experience in a primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, or outpatient clinic preferred.
- Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience as a medical assistant
- Experience in Primary Care/Urgent Care preferred
