Job Summary

Our client is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant responsible for transcribing all physician discourse during medical assessments, ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic strategies. This role encompasses ensuring coding integrity through accurate ICD-10 and CPT designation, managing insurance verifications, and schedule adjustments. The scribe proactively assists by providing procedural support, preparing exam rooms, and monitoring patient communication to ensure comprehensive understanding of discharge instructions.

Key Responsibilities

• Transcribe physician discourse during medical assessments with precision and punctuality.
• Maintain coding integrity through accurate ICD-10 and CPT designation.
• Facilitate clinic throughput by managing insurance verifications and schedule adjustments.
• Provide procedural support, prepare exam rooms, and monitor patient communication for discharge understanding.
• Execute ophthalmic technician tasks and process chart amendments according to protocol.
• Coordinate with front-desk personnel to finalize follow-up care and documentation before patient departure.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months experience in an ophthalmology office as a scribe.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree or ongoing Medical School education preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
• Scribe certification preferred.
