Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Supervisor
- Location: Riverside, CA - Hybrid/Remote Telecommuting
- Shift: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience
Position Summary
The Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Supervisor oversees the daily operations of assigned revenue cycle functions, including billing, collections, and accounts receivable (AR) follow-up. This position is responsible for ensuring staff performance, accuracy, and productivity meet established organizational goals.
As a hands-on leader, the Supervisor works directly with AR Specialists, Payment Posters, and other team members to resolve complex issues, monitor KPIs, and maintain strict compliance with payer and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Operations: Supervise daily RCM operations for assigned functional areas such as claims follow-up, payment posting, denials, and patient financial services.
- Performance & Productivity: Monitor team workload and productivity, ensuring high levels of accuracy and timeliness.
- Quality & Coaching: Perform quality audits and provide constructive feedback, targeted training, and performance coaching to staff.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with the RCM Manager to develop and implement process improvements that optimize reimbursement and reduce denials.
- Escalation Support: Assist with escalated payer issues, claim corrections, and appeals as needed.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate and analyze reports related to AR aging, denials, and cash flow to identify trends or systemic issues.
- Onboarding: Support new staff onboarding and professional training initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain strong communication and collaboration across billing, front office, and clinical teams.
- Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA guidelines, payer rules, and internal organizational policies.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- RCM Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in medical billing, AR follow-up, or related RCM roles.
- Leadership Experience: 1+ year of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
- Systems Knowledge: Direct experience with Epic and/or Athena, and clearinghouse platforms is required.
Skills & Abilities
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical billing, coding, and payer reimbursement methodologies.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Communication: Effective communicator with the ability to motivate and guide a remote team.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard reporting tools.
- Independence: Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Work Environment
- Setup: Hybrid/remote telecommuting environment with periodic in-person meetings or trainings.
- Hours: May require occasional extended hours during month-end closing cycles or during special project implementations.
