Nurse Practitioner
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated clinical professional to perform Compensation and Pension (C&P) Examinations and Separation Health Assessments (SHAs) for Veterans and transitioning military personnel.
This is a non-treatment, investigative evaluation role focused on obtaining comprehensive health histories, performing thorough physical examinations, reviewing cloud-based electronic health records (EHR), and delivering clear medical opinions to support VA benefit claims. Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive Disability Evaluations: Conduct Disability Questionnaires (DBQs) and Separation Health Assessments (SHAs) for Veterans and active service members preparing to exit the military.

Medical Record Review: Review extensive medical histories, abstracts, and prior service records relevant to specific claim conditions.

Physical Examinations: Perform both focused and comprehensive physical exams based on claimed conditions.

Diagnostics & Ancillary Services: Order and interpret necessary laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic procedures to support diagnostic decisions.

Medical Opinion Formulation: Provide clear, evidence-based medical opinion decisions and diagnostic findings on claimed service-connected health conditions.

Timely Portal Charting: Complete and submit detailed examination findings through an online cloud portal within 24 hours of the patient evaluation.
Candidate Qualifications & Skills

Licensure: Active, unrestricted state medical license as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) or Physician (MD/DO).

Clinical Expertise: Strong proficiency in performing detailed physical exams, interpreting diagnostic reports, and analyzing complex medical histories.

Documentation Skills: Exceptional written communication and chart completion habits, with high attention to detail and accuracy.

Tech-Savvy: Comfort with navigating cloud-based EHR software and portal systems for timely chart submissions.

Patient Interaction: Strong interpersonal skills when interacting with Veterans and active military personnel in an evaluative setting.
Practice Details & Work Environment

Role Type: Evaluative & investigative charting (No direct treatment, prescribing, or ongoing case management).

Appointment Length: Examinations typically range from 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the complexity and number of DBQs required.

Daily Volume: Patient load ranges between 1 and 6 Veterans per day based on scheduled examination types.

Equipment: IT equipment is provided.

Dress Code: Professional clinical attire options include scrubs, traditional business attire, dress slacks, blouses/collared shirts, or professional dresses/skirts, accompanied by conservative closed-toe footwear.
