Job Summary
The Respiratory Therapist will provide high-quality respiratory care and clinical support to patients in a home-based setting. This role involves the delivery, setup, and maintenance of life-sustaining respiratory equipment, as well as providing essential education to patients and their caregivers to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform on-site setup of respiratory equipment, including home ventilators, oxygen concentrators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and nebulizers. Provide comprehensive training to patients and caregivers on equipment use and safety.
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ respiratory needs and response to therapy. Develop and update clinical plans of care in coordination with prescribing physicians.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and perform functional checks on a variety of complex respiratory devices. Ensure all equipment meets safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including patient assessments, billing information, and physician orders.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 emergency clinical assistance and equipment troubleshooting for patients.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations, as well as internal policies regarding patient care and safety (including HIPAA and FDA guidelines).
Qualifications
- Virginia RRT or CRT
- 2 year college associate?s degree
- Strong bedside manner
- Ability to operate independently and set their own schedule
- Previous home health or DME equipment setup experience is highly preferred
Additional Requirements
- On-call: Available to field after-hours calls from clients on a rotating monthly basis
- Company car, phone, gas card, and EZPass provided
- On-call stipend: $400/week plus hourly rate and OT if site visits required
