Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Director of Surgical Services to oversee and manage the operations of surgical services within their facility. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication procedures, ensuring compliance with standards of care, and managing the overall performance of the surgical team. The director will also work closely with various departments to promote patient care excellence and staff educational development.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Recognizes and reports signs/symptoms of abuse and neglect for all ages of patients served.
- Develops effective communication procedures for interdepartmental as well as inter-agency reporting or follow-up.
- Monitors caregivers' ability to assess learning needs for specific patient populations and establishes educational materials accordingly.
- Ensures that caregivers follow age-specific standards, policies, and procedures in medication administration.
- Works with Infection Control to assess needs and monitor compliance specific to specialty areas.
- Establishes processes for reporting and documentation of unusual patient or administrative occurrences.
- Completes quality control monitoring such as glucometer controls and code cart checks.
- Assists in compliance audits to ensure survey readiness.
- Maintains awareness of nursing research and evaluates practices for opportunities for improvement.
- Manages staff performance to uphold the highest standards of care and behavior.
- Prepares for and conducts monthly staff meetings for organizational communication and educational opportunities.
- Makes recommendations regarding capital equipment and operating budgets.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Valid Nursing License (BSN is required).
- National certification preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
Qualifications
- Previous OR management role.
- Ideally 5 years of leadership experience within the OR.
- Experience in a Magnet-recognized organization is preferred.
Schedule / Shift
Monday - Friday, start time is between 6:00 am and 6:30 am. 8-hour shifts.
