Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist responsible for reviewing medical records, drafting clinical summaries, managing caseloads, and ensuring documentation meets standards for insurance approval.
Key Responsibilities
- Review limited medical records, including HPIs from ascending facilities and progress notes, to create up-to-date patient status summaries.
- Draft clinical summaries for "cover letters" that clearly articulate the medical necessity for patient transport and services.
- Manage a caseload of approximately 150+ accounts per month, ensuring accuracy and timely submission to avoid delays in care.
- Work closely with the Legal and RCM teams to ensure clinical documentation meets the rigorous standards required for insurance approval and potential argumentation.
- Input and migrate clinical data into internal records and pre-op summary systems efficiently.
Qualifications
- Must be a licensed clinician (RN preferred, or similar clinical background) with bedside experience.
- Strong understanding of hospital flow (Emergency Department, Imaging, ICU, and Floor transfers).
- Ability to write clear, professional, and digestive clinical summaries. A writing sample will be required during the interview process.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity and communication standards.
- Must be a self-starter who can manage a heavy workload without constant direct supervision.
Additional Requirements
Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM; open on time zones.
