Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Coder to review patient medical records, assign accurate codes, and ensure compliance with industry standards. This position supports accurate billing and reimbursement through precise coding while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Review patient medical records and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes.
- Ensure coding is compliant with federal regulations, payer guidelines, and industry coding standards.
- Support accurate billing and reimbursement through precise and timely coding.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA requirements.
- Collaborate with providers or administrative staff to resolve coding or documentation discrepancies.
- Work coding queues within client EMRs, initially Cerner, to meet daily productivity goals.
- Meet established performance expectations for coding accuracy and productivity.
- Work independently in a fully remote environment while effectively managing workload and deadlines.
- Participate in onboarding, workflow training, and ongoing process improvements as new clients are added.
Qualifications
- Professional medical coding experience in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and healthcare documentation.
- Experience working within Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), with Cerner experience being a plus.
- Knowledge of coding compliance, payer guidelines, and reimbursement processes.
- Ability to maintain a high level of coding accuracy while meeting productivity expectations.
Skills
- Technical skills in CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong communication and organization skills for managing workload and deadlines.
