Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Coding Manager to lead coding operations, ensuring quality and compliance across various medical disciplines including neurosurgery, spine, orthopedics, neurology, physiatry, and pain management. The primary responsibilities include managing the coding team, serving as the senior coding expert, and collaborating with operational leaders to enhance performance and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coding operations, quality, and compliance across neurosurgery, spine, orthopedics, neurology, physiatry, and pain management.
- Manage and develop Coding Leads and coding staff through coaching, performance management, and training.
- Serve as the senior coding expert for complex specialty coding, compliance, and regulatory guidance.
- Oversee staffing, budgeting, resource planning, and workload distribution for the coding department.
- Establish coding policies, quality standards, audit programs, and process improvements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Partner with clinical, billing, AR, and operational leaders to resolve coding issues, reduce denials, monitor performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Active coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA
- 7 years of professional coding experience
- 2 years of management experience
- Experience with auditing
- Experience with communicating to doctors and clients
- Preferred experience in coding for neurosurgery, orthopedic spine, neurology, physiatry, or pain management.
