Job Summary
Our client is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients within the operating room. The primary responsibilities include ensuring patient safety, supervising the surgical team, and managing case workflows to maintain efficient surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Intraoperative Care: Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients within the operating room, strictly complying with recognized Standards of Practice, regulatory guidelines, and organizational protocols.
- Room Leadership: Supervises and directs the entire surgical team and overall patient care activities within a single operating room during active cases.
- Case Management: Organizes required time, instrumentation, equipment, medical supplies, and personnel assignments to execute effective and efficient workflows.
- Surgical Field Preparation: Prepares and configures the operating room according to the exact clinical specifications of the patient and the scheduled surgical procedure.
- Patient Safety Implementation: Safely positions patients, executes prepping/draping, conducts "time out" processes prior to incision, and ensures asepsis across the sterile field.
- Surgical Accounting: Performs precise counts of sponges, needles, and sharps ensuring all documentation is accurate.
Qualifications
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of dedicated operating room (OR) nursing experience is required.
- Clinical Specialty: Orthopedic surgical experience is required for this role.
- Licensure & Credentials: Must possess an active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Certifications: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required. (Note: PALS certification is preferred/possible)
- Core Competencies: Strong operational literacy (electronic scheduling software, email, word processing); analytical reasoning skills to define problems and establish clinical facts.
- Logistics Flexibility: Must be able to work highly variable hours and remain flexible to meet the shifting timelines of the daily surgery schedule.

Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. (Note: Associate's Degree in Nursing / ASN is acceptable for strong candidates).
