Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Financial Representative who will be essential in managing financial counseling and account resolution, insurance coordination, and administrative reporting within a healthcare setting. This role aims to provide exceptional financial services and support to patients by assessing needs and recommending tailored payment solutions, ensuring insurance coverage is verified, and that financial interactions are meticulously documented within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management systems.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Assess individual patient financial needs and recommend tailored payment solutions.
- Establish and manage interest-free payment arrangements in alignment with organizational policy.
- Administer applications for sliding-scale programs, third-party financing, and other financial hardship assistance.
- Verify complex insurance coverage and assist patients in navigating the prior authorization landscape.
- Partner with the billing department to identify and resolve claim discrepancies that impact the patient’s financial responsibility.
- Document all financial interactions with meticulous detail within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management systems.
- Monitor the health of active payment plans and initiate follow-up for delinquent accounts.
- Generate performance reports for leadership regarding patient account activity and resolution rates.
Skills
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive financial discussions with dignity and tact.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience navigating enterprise-level EHR and Practice Management software; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on resolving complex billing hurdles.
Additional Requirements
- Bilingualism: Fluency in English and Spanish is highly desirable.
- Payer Expertise: Advanced knowledge of state-specific assistance programs and federal insurance guidelines.
Schedule / Shift
M-F, 8am-5pm in the office. The first 90 days will be fully onsite for training. After 90 days, employees are evaluated for a hybrid schedule. If hybrid is permitted, employees can expect to work in the office 3 days per week, and 2 days per week virtually.
