Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled Collections Specialist to manage overdue patient accounts, from pre-collections monitoring to coordination with external agencies. This role is essential for maintaining the financial health of the organization by ensuring timely payment resolution and accurate account adjustments. This position is a contracted role for 6 months with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Account Monitoring: Identify and track patient accounts that are 30, 60, 90, and 120+ days past due to initiate pre-collection protocols.
- Patient Outreach: Conduct outbound calls to patients in pre-collection status to facilitate payment and avoid further escalation. Expected to reach out to a minimum of 60 patients per work day.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate and review pre-collection reports for internal stakeholders and facilitate decision-making regarding account transitions.
- Agency Coordination: Manage the transfer of approved accounts to third-party collection agencies and maintain ongoing communication for account removals or updates.
- Financial Administration: Perform manual or automatic account adjustments, process payments for past-due balances, and ensure data integrity across billing systems.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
- In person in Bethesda, MD
- Contract: 6 months with possibility for extension/conversion to permanent
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of Healthcare Collections Experience.
- Must have strong knowledge of EOB and the ability to articulate health coverage to a patient.
- Excellent communicator.
- Strong understanding of HIPPA compliance.
- Preferred: Team player, willing learner, and comfortable in a metric-based environment.
