Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist responsible for determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, performing laboratory procedures, and ensuring quality control measures are met. The role involves routine instrument maintenance, new reagent evaluation, managing laboratory workflows, and assisting in staff training. The professional will communicate critical results following HIPAA guidelines and function as a departmental leader when required.
Responsibilities
- Determine specimen acceptability for testing according to laboratory criteria.
- Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures ensuring quality control.
- Make technical decisions regarding testing and address technical issues.
- Maintain technical knowledge for test result analysis and address abnormal findings.
- Perform and document quality control for clinical data accuracy.
- Engage in routine instrument maintenance and corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist supervisory duties for effective staff utilization and quality test results.
- Manage Laboratory Information System workflows.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls.
- Assist in new instrument/methodologies validation and training module development.
- Communicate critical results per HIPAA regulations.
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA requirements.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or Medical Technology.
- MLS/MT (ASCP), AMT or other national accreditation required.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years in a high complexity laboratory.
