Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Collections Supervisor responsible for the management and oversight of the hospital billing team. The role involves supervising billing processes, conducting performance evaluations, managing claims, resolving billing issues, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies. The ideal candidate will actively participate in recruitment and training while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Directly supervise, manage, oversee, and monitor the hospital billing team and all billing processes.
- Track employee productivity to ensure quality and quantity objectives are maintained; conduct team performance evaluations and check-ins.
- Monitor and maintain an optimal clean claim rate; identify claim edits and review/correct them when necessary.
- Provide solutions to complex billing issues as they arise and resolve claims submission discrepancies with patients and reimbursement agencies.
- Participate in the recruitment process for new billing staff; conduct initial training and facilitate ongoing learning sessions.
- Follow and implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure all compliance standards are met across all payers; assist with the departmental budget process as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of the department and hospital; perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma OR 5–10 years of dedicated revenue cycle experience.
- Must be able to obtain required local facility safety and assault response competencies/certifications within 30 days of hire (e.g., Regional Fire Safety Card, Assault Response Competency).
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of direct experience in hospital billing, with proven experience across the broader Revenue Cycle (Medical Billing, Payment, and Collections).
- Hands-on billing experience with Medi-Cal, Medi-Cal Managed Care, and other state/government Medi-Cal programs.
- Proficiency with electronic billing systems and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software.
- Deep understanding of billing and collections guidelines and requirements for government healthcare programs.
- Skill to critically and systematically analyze billing trends, troubleshoot issues, and utilize creative problem-solving techniques.
- Advanced user of PCs and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to handle difficult situations in a discrete, professional, and empathetic manner.
Schedule / Shift
Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
