Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Surgery Scheduler responsible for managing the scheduling of podiatric surgeries, from elective to urgent procedures. The role also involves securing necessary medical clearances, managing prior authorizations, and estimating patient financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate Surgical Scheduling: Act as the primary point of contact to schedule elective and urgent podiatric surgeries.
- Secure Surgical Clearance & Pre-Ops: Coordinate with patients' primary care physicians or cardiologists to obtain required medical clearances, blood work, etc.
- Manage Prior Authorizations: Submit clinical documentation to insurance providers to secure pre-authorization for surgical procedures.
- Calculate & Collect Patient Financials: Estimate patient out-of-pocket costs based on insurance deductibles and co-insurance, discuss financial responsibilities.
- Maintain Block Time: Manage and optimize the clinic’s designated surgical block time to maximize efficiency.
- Post-Operative Follow-Up: Schedule crucial post-operative follow-up appointments, such as suture removal, cast changes, and X-ray checks.
- Room Patients & Take Vitals: Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain brief chief complaints.
- Surgical Instrument Sterilization: Clean, wrap, and sterilize podiatric surgical trays and instruments.
Qualifications
- 2 years of scheduling experience minimum.
- MA or back-office exposure is preferred.
