Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Eligibility Representative to join their team. This position involves direct interaction with patients to assess financial coverage needs, guide them through eligibility and enrollment processes for financial assistance programs, and support uninsured and underinsured patients with coverage and payment-related resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet directly with patients to assess financial coverage needs and identify available assistance programs.
- Guide individuals through eligibility and enrollment processes for government-sponsored and financial assistance programs.
- Support uninsured and underinsured patients with coverage and payment-related resources.
- Partner with internal departments and community organizations to coordinate patient financial support services.
- Educate patients on healthcare coverage options, benefits, and potential out-of-pocket obligations.
- Facilitate payment collection efforts and assist with establishing payment plans when appropriate.
- Conduct patient outreach and follow-up to gather necessary documentation and ensure continuity of services.
- Manage a caseload of accounts, maintaining accurate records and timely follow-up activities.
- Provide financial counseling support across multiple care settings based on operational needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience working directly with individuals in a healthcare, insurance, or human services environment.
- Ability to build rapport and navigate sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, patient-focused setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and a consistent employment history.
- Experience supporting individuals with insurance, benefits, financial assistance, eligibility, or related programs preferred.
- Familiarity with healthcare revenue cycle, patient access, insurance verification, or financial counseling processes is a plus.
Skills
- Technical skills: Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare information systems.
- Soft skills: Strong customer service, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills.
Schedule/Shift
- Fully onsite - main hospital
- Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
