Clinical Navigator I (Orthopedics / Total Joints)
Location: Lee's Summit, MO & Raymore, MO (On-site / Dual-site flexibility)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $25.50 – $27.00/hr (Up to $30.00/hr for extensive experience)
Conversion to permanent salary: $52,000 – $55,500/annually

Our premier musculoskeletal practice is seeking a Clinical Navigator I to serve as the dedicated, right-hand clinical partner for a new Total Joints physician joining our team this September. In this dynamic role, you will act as a true extension of the physician—blending hands-on clinical care, patient education, and administrative navigation.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Direct Clinical Care: Room patients, prepare electronic charts, remove staples/stitches, assist the physician with minor in-office procedures, and prepare/administer injections.

Patient Navigation & Education: Guide patients from their initial consult through post-op recovery. Deliver critical pre-operative and post-operative education, and develop/instruct patients on Home Exercise Programs (HEP).

Care Coordination: Schedule surgeries, coordinate MRI and lab referrals, manage the physician’s daily schedule, and call in prescriptions as directed.

Administrative Navigation: Facilitate insurance prior authorizations for procedures/prescriptions, complete FMLA and Short-Term Disability (STD) paperwork, and manage patient messaging portals.

Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with referring primary care offices, local athletic trainers, and physical therapists.
Who You Are (Qualifications & Requirements)
We are open to a few different professional backgrounds for this role:

The Athletic Trainer Route: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Athletic Training + Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) credential. Open to recent graduates with a sports/athletic training background and no prior formal clinic experience!

The Medical Assistant / LPN Route: Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with 2+ years of clinical experience. (Orthopedic or pain management experience is highly preferred).

Licensure/Certifications: State licensed (or eligible for licensure) in both Missouri and Kansas. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (or must be obtained immediately upon hire).

Technical & Soft Skills:

Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and standard ICD/CPT coding.

Experience with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks preferred but not required).

Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams).

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build trust and confidence with patients quickly.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask under tight time constraints.
