Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist responsible for managing patient accounts with outstanding self-pay balances, advising on bills, charges, and payment plans, and ensuring compliance with relevant billing practices. The primary goal is timely resolution of financial accounts while maintaining high standards of professionalism and clear communication with patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive Account Oversight: Monitor and manage patient accounts with outstanding self-pay balances to ensure timely resolution.
- Financial Advising: Explain bills, charges, and payment options to patients with clarity and professionalism.
- Pricing Integrity: Audit billed charges to ensure compliance with negotiated pricing agreements.
- Payment Optimization: Facilitate patient payment plans and collect payments aligned with insurance and care quotes.
- Credit & Refund Resolution: Process patient refunds or submit cash distribution requests for credit balances.
- Financial Assistance Guidance: Refer eligible patients to financial assistance programs.
- Upload patient statements into the Waystar Patient Notebook according to company policy.
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient communications and payment activities within the EHR system.
- Serve as the primary contact for patient inquiries regarding balances and adjustments.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve complex account issues.
- Communicate billing-related issues to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic math, bookkeeping, and accounting skills.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations.
Experience
- 1+ years of experience in medical billing.

- Adaptability & Multitasking: Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: High digital literacy and strong command of computers and software.
