Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our client company's pharmacy team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing compounded medications and sterile preparations while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory standards such as USP <797>, <800>, and <795>. You will also play a key role in quality management, staff training, and inventory coordination to support exceptional patient care and safety.
Responsibilities / Job Duties

Medication Preparation: Prepare compounded medications, including intravenous admixtures, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and other sterile preparations in accordance with established pharmacy protocols and regulatory standards.

Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with sterile and hazardous drug handling requirements, including USP <797>, USP <800>, and USP <795>, through ongoing competency validation and accurate documentation.

Order Processing & Inventory: Review and process medication orders, refill requests, and inventory replenishment needs to support timely patient care. Monitor medication inventory levels, including controlled substances, and facilitate reordering and replenishment activities.

Emergency Supplies: Coordinate the preparation, inspection, and restocking of emergency medication kits, crash carts, and transport medication supplies.

Customer Service: Provide customer service support by responding to phone inquiries and assisting individuals at the pharmacy service counter.

Medication Logistics: Manage the return and redistribution of medications to appropriate storage locations while maintaining inventory accuracy.

Training & Development: Develop, administer, and maintain training programs for personnel involved in sterile compounding activities, including competency assessment processes and required educational documentation. Ensure pharmacy staff possess the knowledge, skills, and qualifications necessary to perform assigned compounding duties safely and effectively.

Quality Assurance: Lead and maintain quality management programs related to sterile compounding operations, regulatory compliance, and medication safety practices. Investigate quality concerns, customer complaints, and adverse events, implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.

Operational Reviews: Conduct periodic reviews of quality assurance processes, compliance metrics, and operational procedures, documenting findings and improvements at least annually.

Safety Promotion: Promote adherence to departmental policies, professional standards, and best practices to ensure the highest level of patient safety and product quality.

Qualifications
Experience

Previous professional experience working as a Pharmacy Technician is required.

Demonstrated experience with sterile compounding compliance (USP <797>/<800>) and hospital pharmacy environments is highly preferred.
Skills

Technical Skills: Sterile compounding protocols, hazardous drug handling, USP <797>/<800>/<795> guidelines, inventory management (including controlled substances), medication order processing, and pharmacy quality assurance management.

Soft Skills: Excellent customer service, strong verbal communication (for phone inquiries and counter assistance), teamwork, attention to detail, leadership, and instructional capability for training staff.
