? Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and independent Travel Respiratory Therapist to deliver high-quality, prescribed pulmonary function testing (PFT) services. Under the general supervision of practice management and in collaboration with the Lab Medical Director, you will perform routine and advanced diagnostic pulmonary testing, manage equipment calibration, and collect critical clinical data.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who excels in autonomous, fast-paced ambulatory settings and enjoys working directly with patients and clinical teams.
?? Key Responsibilities
? Diagnostic Testing & Patient Care
- Perform Comprehensive PFTs: Conduct spirometry, lung volumes (via helium dilution and body plethysmography), diffusion capacity, maximum voluntary ventilation, and maximum respiratory pressures.
- Advanced Diagnostics: Execute methacholine challenge testing, specific airways resistance/conductance, right-to-left circulatory shunt assessments, invasive dead space measurements, and resting energy expenditure.
- Exercise Studies & Oximetry: Perform routine exercise studies, including 6-minute walk tests and resting/exercise O2 titrations in accordance with lab protocols.
- Arterial Care: Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection, analysis, and hemoximetry.
- Patient Education: Instruct patients on the proper use of metered-dose medications and spacing devices. Educate patients, students, fellows, and new technicians on PFT aspects as required.
? Job Qualifications
?? Required Experience & Credentials
- Education: Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy (or equivalent respiratory care program recognized by the state). High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Licensure: Must hold an active license as a Respiratory Therapist issued by the State of New York?.
- Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Credential from the NBRC. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification ??.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of dedicated experience conducting Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs).
- Technical Skills: Working familiarity with clinical computers and diagnostic software ?.
