Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Health Information Coordinator responsible for compiling, processing, and managing health information records. The role ensures patient records remain accurate, complete, current, confidential, and compliant with federal and state regulations, HIPAA, and internal policies.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Enter and update data in electronic health records, including documentation of POLST.
- Scan and file documents to electronic records in a timely manner.
- Conduct audits of records to maintain accuracy and completeness, consistent with regulations and policies.
- Identify and report documentation deficiencies for resolution.
- Obtain outside medical records and scan them into the electronic record.
- Monitor clinic fax inbox and ensure timely delivery of reports to appropriate providers.
- Respond to medical records access requests, obtaining necessary approvals for release.
- Maintain monthly deactivation lists/enrollment status in electronic records.
- Collaborate to prepare records for audits by CMS or other regulatory agencies.
- Track medical records, including filing, storage, and off-site storage submissions.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance to maintain confidentiality of participant's information.
- Perform other duties as assigned in a positive and helpful manner.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Required Skills
- 2+ years experience in a medical records position.
- Demonstrated ability to work in an electronic medical records environment.
- Experience working with EMR systems.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with EPIC or eClinicalWorks EMR systems.
Schedule / Shift
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch) or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (30-minute lunch), based on candidate preference.
