Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled professional to take on the role of Vascular Access Registered Nurse. This role involves reviewing physician documentation and accurately assigning appropriate codes for professional billing services in the field of vascular surgery. This position will play a critical part in ensuring compliance and maintaining high standards of accuracy in medical coding.
Key Responsibilities
- Review physician documentation and accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for professional billing services.
- Code a variety of vascular surgery encounters, including inpatient, outpatient, office, and procedural services.
- Interpret operative reports and assign appropriate codes for open vascular procedures, endovascular interventions, diagnostic studies, and related services.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, payer guidelines, NCCI edits, and industry coding standards.
- Identify and resolve coding edits, denials, and documentation deficiencies.
- Communicate with providers regarding documentation clarification and coding opportunities.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting established turnaround times.
- Participate in coding audits, education initiatives, and process improvement activities.
- Stay current on annual coding updates, payer policy changes, and vascular surgery coding guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent coding certification required.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional fee coding experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent vascular surgery coding experience.
- Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifier usage, and medical terminology.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional fee coding experience.
- Specific experience in coding vascular surgery procedures, including arterial and venous interventions, angiography, endovascular procedures, bypass grafting, thrombectomy, and related services.
Skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and coding software.
- EPIC experience.
- Possession of own equipment for remote work.
- Experience in an academic medical center or large physician practice is preferred.
- Previous experience with Epic, Cerner, or similar EMR platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines is preferred.
Additional Requirements
- The position offers flexible hours, but training will require working 8am-4:30pm for approximately two weeks.
- This position is fully remote.
