Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled Surgery Scheduler to coordinate and manage surgical appointments and procedures. This position requires efficient scheduling, thorough review of necessary documentation, and excellent communication with physicians, office staff, and facility management to ensure optimal patient care and smooth operational flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical and surgical terminology and procedures; organize medical information effectively.
- Accurately record all patient demographic, insurance, and procedure information, including any special equipment or supply needs.
- Verify the presence of all necessary forms and labels for efficient patient processing, from insurance verification to the recovery experience.
- Adjust start times and duration of procedures to meet physician and patient requirements efficiently.
- Review the schedule routinely to avoid conflicts.
- Verify start time and number of cases for the following day with the physician or office staff.
- Contact physicians' offices to inquire about block utilization and possible block releases in a timely manner.
- Notify appropriate facility management, staff, and the Anesthesia Department of any unusual scheduling needs or conflicts.
- Perform additional duties as needed to ensure the safety and comfort of customers and efficient facility operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of Surgery Scheduling experience (Multi-Specialty).
- Experience with checking in patients and front desk duties.
- Knowledge of medical procedures.
- EMR experience and strong computer skills.
Preferred Skills
- Spanish Bilingual.
- HST (EMR) experience.
Schedule/Shift
- Monday through Friday.
- Start time between 6 AM - 8 AM, working 8 hours thereafter with start time dependent on the first procedure.
