Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Laboratory Tech to perform patient and Quality Control (QC) testing, maintain proper inventories, troubleshoot equipment, and perform phlebotomy procedures. The candidate will also participate in quality, safety, and compliance programs while maintaining strict confidentiality of Personal Health Information.
Responsibilities
- Performs patient and Quality Control (QC) testing, develops skills and maintains abilities in all assigned laboratory areas.
- Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents.
- Performs advanced equipment troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure necessary procedures are followed before utilizing equipment after service and workstations are restocked.
- Participates in quality, safety, and compliance programs.
- Performs phlebotomy for patients of all ages requiring the procedure.
- Follows established safety practices including biohazards and other precautions.
- Promotes effective working relationships within and across departments.
- Attends all required in-service and continuing education programs.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of Personal Health Information and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
- May perform direct observations and do competency assessments on other employees.
- Other duties as assigned by the lab supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Certifications
- Phlebotomy skills required.
- AMT or ASCP certification .
- Experience working in a physician's office environment preferred.
