DME Care Coordinator – Prosthetics Specialty
Location: Remote
Compensation: $24.50
Shift: Full-Time, 8-hour shift scheduled starting between 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM EST
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive DME Care Coordinator to join a fast-paced, high-volume team. This role focuses specifically on prosthetics and artificial limbs (e.g., upper and lower extremity prosthetic components, sockets, liners, liners, suspension systems, and myoelectric devices).
As a remote coordinator, you will act as the vital link between referral sources, injured workers, and prosthetic providers. Your mission is to ensure seamless authorization, precise ordering, and timely delivery of custom mobility equipment while maintaining a "customer-first" mentality and strict regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Referral Management: Receive and process prosthetic referrals; ensure written authorization is secured from payors prior to equipment fabrication and delivery.
- Coordination & Logistics: Partner with prosthetists, clinicians, and injured workers to ensure the correct prosthetic components and custom devices are delivered within specified timeframes.
- Communication: Provide consistent status updates to all stakeholders regarding fabrication timelines and confirm successful delivery/fitting of the equipment.
- Financial Accuracy: Deliver timely pricing data to the Billing Department and assist in expanding the provider network to secure competitive pricing for high-cost prosthetic componentry.
- Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records in proprietary software (ensuring proper documentation of clinical notes and K-Level functional assessments) and ensure a smooth flow of information between internal teams.
- Availability: Maintain reliable attendance; participate in a weekend on-call rotation as needed (additional compensation provided).
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare, DME, insurance, or a physician practice. Direct experience with prosthetics or Orthotics & Prosthetics (O&P) is highly preferred.
- Education: Some college credit or equivalent professional experience in a related discipline.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams); ability to quickly learn proprietary EMR/care coordination software.
- Medical Knowledge: Strong grasp of medical terminology related to limb loss, vascular health, and PHI/HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
- Bilingual Skills: Spanish fluency is highly preferred to support our diverse client base.
