Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Front Desk Medical Assistant responsible for providing exceptional patient-facing customer service, managing front desk operations, and maintaining patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for all patients and visitors while collaborating with physicians, staff, and patients to ensure efficient office workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient-facing customer service and create a warm, welcoming environment for all patients and visitors.
- Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to help patients feel calm, comfortable, and supported throughout their visit.
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while demonstrating appropriate telephone etiquette.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately using established scheduling guidelines, selecting appropriate visit types and appointment lengths.
- Greet patients promptly upon arrival and assist with front desk operations, including registration and check-in/check-out processes.
- Verify and collect patient demographic information, emergency contacts, insurance details, and time-of-service payments.
- Accurately document and maintain patient information within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Utilize EMR systems for prescription requests, phone documentation, referrals, outreach, scheduling, and other administrative functions.
- Assist with reporting, surgical scheduling, prior authorizations, referrals, and maintaining adequate office and clinical supply inventory as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, staff, and patients to ensure efficient office workflow and a positive patient experience.
- Perform additional administrative and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in an office setting with administrative tasks.
- Experience with patient registration, scheduling, and check-in processes.
- Proficiency with EMR systems, including phone notes and document indexing (EPIC).
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification.
- Strong computer and office equipment skills.
- Experience handling multi-line phone systems and telephone communication.
- Basic problem-solving and administrative support skills.
