Human Resources Director
Location: Los Angeles, CA 90057
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Salary: $115,000–$145,000 annually
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Director to lead all HR functions for a growing healthcare organization with approximately 300 employees. This role oversees a team of five HR professionals and partners closely with executive leadership, physicians, and department managers to support organizational growth and workforce development.
The ideal candidate will bring strong healthcare HR experience, a proven background in employee relations, and expertise in compensation, benefits, compliance, and workforce planning. Experience working with unions is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Lead and manage the Human Resources department, including direct supervision of five team members.
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational goals and support continued growth.
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
- Provide coaching and training to managers on HR best practices, employee relations, and performance management.
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary resource for employee and physician relations matters.
- Conduct investigations and resolve complex employee concerns.
- Foster positive relationships with healthcare providers and clinical staff.
- Support labor relations activities and assist with union-related matters as needed.
Compensation and Benefits
- Oversee benefits administration, including annual open enrollment.
- Manage compensation programs and establish competitive pay structures and salary ranges.
- Ensure market competitiveness and internal equity across compensation practices.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Oversee workers’ compensation, including policy renewals and claims management.
- Develop and implement safety initiatives to reduce workplace injuries and improve employee well-being.
Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
- Oversee recruitment efforts and hiring strategies.
- Support organizational staffing needs and long-term workforce planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience.
- Strong background in employee relations, benefits, compensation, and compliance.
- Experience developing salary structures and pay ranges.
- Extensive knowledge of workers’ compensation, safety strategies, and injury prevention.
- Healthcare industry experience, including working with physicians and providers.
- Ability to train and coach managers effectively.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or Community Health Center (CHC).
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Professional HR certification such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR.
