Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join their team. The primary goal of this position is to provide quality care to patients in conjunction with the Dental Supervisor and Dental Director. Responsibilities include scheduling patients for dental clinics, assisting in coordinating patient flow, and maintaining clean and safe working areas while adhering to infection control practices.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Works in conjunction with Dental Supervisor and Dental Director providing quality care to patients.
- Schedule patients for dental clinics.
- Assist to coordinate patient flow.
- Answer telephones, provide information and appointments to callers.
- Collect donations from patients, complete all forms required, and submit money with reports to administration.
- Ensure that the dental department is properly cleaned.
- Adhere to infection control practices: Universal precautions, hand washing, sterile/aseptic technique.
- Record in sterilizing log every time instruments are sterilized, record daily suction lines, water lines, chairside trap logs.
- Clean, sterilize, and assemble instruments, supplies, and equipment required during dental procedures.
- Maintain a safe and clean area, observing ergonomics safety precautions.
- Prepare patients for oral surgery and other dental treatments.
- Assist in dental treatment of patients, providing dentists with instruments and equipment necessary during patients' treatments.
- Take vital signs on patients when necessary.
- Take digital oral x-rays used in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
- Record treatment results in the patient’s dental record and instruct patients in the care of teeth.
- Discharge and arrange follow-up appointments.
- Work with the front office to ensure the integrity of dental records.
- Promote cost-effectiveness by utilizing equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Learn and use the current MIS system.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Verify patient insurance coverages through various web portals.
- Monitor all incoming messages to the dental department through text messaging apps, responding timely and coordinating with other departments.
- Attend in-services as scheduled by the supervisor and participate in trainings provided by the client to stay current with industry changes and clinical requirements.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Dental Assistant Diploma and X-Ray License
- CPR certification.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Familiarity with OSHA protocols.
- Flexible to cover at other locations occasionally when needed.
- Experience with any dental software.
Experience
- 1 year or more experience preferred; open to new graduates if they are eager and well-mannered with good references.
Schedule / Shift
- Dental Clerks: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm or 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.
- Shifts may differ depending on when the docs are in.
