Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and highly adaptable PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join a tight-knit surgical team in Spokane. In this role, you will provide comprehensive pre-operative assessments and critical post-operative recovery management for patients undergoing urological procedures. Operating in a fast-paced environment handling 9 to 12 cases per day, you will serve as a vital link between the anesthesia, operating room, and patient care teams.
This is currently a temporary contract position (approximately 480 hours/12 weeks) to provide immediate, crucial team support, with the potential to convert to a contract-to-hire arrangement.

Schedule & Shift Details

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (No weekends)

Weekly Commitment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week

Key Responsibilities
-
Pre-Operative Care: Perform comprehensive pre-operative physical assessments and efficiently communicate critical patient data to the anesthesia and OR teams.

Recovery Management: Monitor post-operative vital signs, actively manage patient pain and nausea, and intervene immediately during adverse clinical changes or arrhythmias.

Technical Clinical Skills: Initiate IV fluids, interpret EKGs and other diagnostic test results, and safely administer post-surgical medications.

Patient Advocacy & Continuity: Provide individualized discharge instructions to patients and their families, and conduct routine 48-hour post-procedure follow-up calls.

Clinic Operations: Maintain precise, up-to-date patient charts, complete required logbooks, and assist with clinical inventory and supply management.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required:
-
Licensure: Current, unrestricted State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Washington.

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.

Critical Soft Skills: Exceptional situational awareness (knowing how and when to escalate a situation), the ability to stay calm and efficient under stressful or changing conditions, and the ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Preferred (Plus Skills):

Experience: 3 to 5 years of PACU, critical care, or similar high-acuity surgical RN experience is highly preferred.

Technology: Prior experience utilizing EPIC Electronic Medical Records (EMR) software.

Computer Literacy: Proficient in basic computer applications (Microsoft Word/Excel) with a strong aptitude for learning new clinical software systems.
