Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist. The primary responsibilities include providing administrative support to the department, ensuring accurate assignment of diagnostic and procedure codes to inpatient encounters based on electronic medical record documentation, and maintaining compliance with established rules and regulatory guidelines. The role also involves liaising between management, staff, and physicians, resolving routine questions and issues, and carrying out various administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize work schedules and create work assignments.
- Review timecards for accuracy.
- Conduct quality assurance audits of staff performance.
- Develop and implement quality improvement activities.
- Train and mentor staff, providing feedback on performance and developmental needs.
- Collect, analyze, and report on data.
- Prepare reports on performance and metrics.
Qualifications
- Five years of inpatient coding experience.
- RHIT, RHIA, or CCS certification from AHIMA.
- Epic EMR experience is preferred.
