Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Back Office Medical Assistant to support clinical and administrative operations. The successful candidate will assist healthcare providers with patient care, perform clinical procedures, and ensure accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR). This role is crucial in maintaining efficient patient flow and supporting high-quality care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist providers during procedures.
- Administer injections, medications, and vaccinations as directed by the provider.
- Perform basic clinical procedures (e.g., EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care).
- Maintain and update patient records in the EMR system.
- Ensure exam rooms are cleaned, stocked, and prepared between patients.
- Handle lab specimens and coordinate with laboratory services.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
- Assist with patient follow-up care instructions as directed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred but not always required.
- Previous clinical/back office experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures.
- Experience with EMR systems.
- BLS/CPR certification required.
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
