Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled Medical Underwriter to evaluate and assess individual health questionnaires, apply pricing logic, and review automated scoring for accuracy. This senior-level position requires a dynamic professional capable of mentoring for cross-training and collaborating with the group underwriting team. The role will involve both individual application assessments as well as some group underwriting, requiring travel to Austin, Texas several times a year if not local.
Key Responsibilities
- Review electronic individual health questionnaires (EIHQ) for underwritten applications.
- Apply logic to adjust rates up or down based on specific conditions.
- Ensure accuracy in automated scoring systems.
- Perform group underwriting tasks and participate in cross-training.
- Act as the sole practitioner of this job function within the organization.
- Regularly engage with the group underwriting team.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience with electronic IHQ underwriting, specifically within the small group space (2-9 headcount).
- Experience in Medical Group Underwriting (small group) preferred.
- Residence in Texas, preferably Austin, is advantageous.

Additional Requirements
- If not local to Austin, must be able to travel to Austin 5-6 times per year for company events and meetings. Travel and stay are covered.
