Position Summary
Our client is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Patient Care Coordinator to join their busy pulmonary practice in Riverside. This is a high-volume, patient-facing role supporting individuals with chronic respiratory conditions, including lung cancer and shortness of breath. The ideal candidate will combine exceptional customer service with strong scheduling and insurance knowledge to ensure patients receive timely, coordinated care.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer a high volume of inbound patient calls in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Schedule new and follow-up appointments while gathering all necessary clinical information.
- Ask detailed questions to determine the purpose of the visit, including any recent imaging, testing, or procedures completed.
- Verify insurance eligibility and ensure required authorizations are obtained prior to appointments.
- Accurately document detailed appointment notes so providers have the appropriate clinical context before each visit.
- Coordinate appointments while ensuring all required documentation and authorizations are in place.
- Provide outstanding customer service to patients and families, demonstrating empathy and patience during every interaction.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of medical scheduling or patient care coordination experience.
- Previous experience in a high-volume medical office.
- Strong appointment scheduling experience required.
- Knowledge of insurance verification, eligibility, and prior authorizations.
- Excellent documentation and note-taking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
