Job Summary
The Medical Assistant/Community Health Worker provides administrative assistance and patient care support for a family planning clinic and its mobile unit. Key responsibilities include registering clients, maintaining medical records, managing provider and mobile unit schedules, and providing limited clinical care and education. Additionally, this position is responsible for conducting community outreach and education for organizations, schools, and families during non-clinical hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients upon arrival and determine their specific needs.
- Manage client registration, including paperwork completion, calculating fees based on a sliding scale, and notifying providers of client arrival.
- Follow established medical records policies to create files for new clients and maintain all medical records in accordance with organizational policies and HIPAA guidelines.
- Coordinate and schedule initial and follow-up client visits.
- Provide excellent customer service as the primary point of contact for phone inquiries and in-person visits.
- Provide comprehensive administrative support for the clinic operations.
- Assist the Advanced Practice Nurse with examinations, treatments, special tests, and procedures, including point-of-care testing and venipuncture.
- Review charts, record vital signs, take patient histories, and collect lab samples, including administering medications under the direction of the Advanced Practice Nurse.
- Sanitize and stock exam rooms and maintain inventory for office, clinical, and laboratory supplies.
- Provide education regarding reproductive health and sexuality tailored to client needs.
- Coordinate the labeling, delivery, and receipt of laboratory specimens and communicate lab results to the provider, relay information to clients, and coordinate follow-up care.
- Facilitate client referrals for additional services as required.
- Lead educational and outreach sessions within the community.
Qualifications
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and front desk operations.
- Experience with finger sticks.
- CMA or Diploma (preferred).

- Proficiency in basic computer skills and database applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong work ethic, prioritizing duties and responsibilities effectively.

7:30am - 4:30pm
