Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Account Representative to handle financial and administrative interactions with patients, insurance companies, and referring physician offices. The primary focus is on managing high-volume communications, performing comprehensive insurance verifications, interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), and facilitating payment processing and billing inquiries.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- High-Volume Communication: Manage between 60 to 100 incoming calls per day from patients, insurance companies, and referring physician offices.
- Insurance & Eligibility: Perform comprehensive insurance verification and eligibility checks to ensure patients can be seen at the facility.
- Financial Correspondence: Read and interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and payer correspondence.
- Payment & Billing: Handle payment posting and answer detailed questions regarding patient bills and insurance claims.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with the manual processing of claims, including folding statements and stuffing envelopes for mail-outs.
- Patient Interaction: Assist patients face-to-face at the cashier’s office or front desk as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Qualifications
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in the medical field is required, with a strong preference for candidates from a hospital background.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading EOBs and navigating insurance verification portals.
- Multitasking Ability: Proven ability to manage diverse tasks—from phone queues to administrative mailings—without losing focus.
- Flexibility: An open-minded approach to a changing workflow and the ability to route complex escalations to the proper internal departments.
Experience
- Prior hospital experience preferred.
- Experience with Meditech.
Schedule / Shift
M-F, 8am-5pm
