Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant to join our client's high-volume outpatient Orthopedics clinic. This role supports a team of orthopedic physicians and advanced practice providers across a multi-specialty setting, delivering high-quality care to a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints
- Assist providers with orthopedic exams, procedures, and treatments (e.g., casting, splinting, injections)
- Prepare and clean exam rooms; ensure proper sterilization of instruments
- Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection as needed
- Manage patient flow to maintain efficient clinic operations
- Document patient interactions accurately in the EMR (Epic preferred)
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and post-procedure care
- Coordinate referrals, imaging, and follow-up appointments
- Handle prior authorizations, prescription refills, and inbox tasks
- Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and assist with ordering
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; completion of accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
- Certification preferred (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1+ year of experience in an outpatient clinical setting (orthopedics strongly preferred)
- Experience with EMR systems; Epic experience highly preferred
- Strong clinical skills including vitals, injections, and basic procedures
- Excellent communication and patient service skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
