Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Medical Billing and Coding Instructor to deliver comprehensive instruction in compliance with AAPC standards. The primary responsibility is to prepare students for the national exam through multi-specialty training and expert explanation of complex coding concepts.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction strictly following the AAPC certification standards.
- Teach across 19+ different subject matters and code sets (CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM).
- Explain complex coding concepts across various specialties.
- Manage the grading system and provide technical feedback on coding accuracy.
- Monitor student progress to ensure graduation-readiness.
- Lead bi-weekly in-person support sessions and provide flexible support as requested.
- Offer professional mentorship and real-world insights to students.
Qualifications
- Must hold an active Certified Professional Coding Instructor (CPCI) credential.
- Typically requires an underlying CPC or similar high-level credential.
- Proven knowledge across a broad range of specialties in the AAPC curriculum.
- Expert-level mastery of CPT, HCPCS Level II, and ICD-10-CM.
Experience
- Minimum of five years in a training or teaching capacity.
- Experienced in educational delivery and providing constructive feedback on coding accuracy.
Skills
- Ability to manage student progress and grades within Blackboard or similar LMS.
- Comfort toggling between remote grading/support and leading physical classroom sessions.
