Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join their team. The primary responsibilities include performing phlebotomy procedures, processing specimens, assisting with andrology-related duties, managing records, and coordinating billing and lab logistics. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a sanitary workspace.
Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:30pm (10 hour shift); & rotating one weekend shift per month (Saturday and Sunday, 7:00am - 1:00pm)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy procedures including patient identification, preparation, and specimen collection/labeling.
- Process samples for testing, ensure proper storage and transportation conditions, and complete all required requisition forms.
- Assist with andrology-related duties as required.
- Confirm patient information, insurance details, and facilitate necessary record updates.
- Generate charges and payment information, route billing (insurance, patient, or client), and perform regular billing audits.
- Coordinate with reference and genetic laboratories to manage results and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Maintain computer-generated logs, electronic records, and the RSO to reflect current/pending orders.
- Monitor phlebotomy supplies, conduct inventory counts, and order supplies to maintain stock levels.
- Maintain a sanitary workspace and strictly follow OSHA guidelines for bloodborne pathogen handling and disposal.
- Operate under the direct supervision of the Clinical Lab Supervisor and perform other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Phlebotomy Certificate Required
- Knowledge navigating lab software
- Experience or knowledge collecting payment for services rendered
