Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Medical Assistant for a high-volume multispecialty outpatient clinic in midtown Manhattan, focusing on orthopedics. The role involves supporting orthopedic providers and assisting with primary care and cardiology as needed, ensuring efficient clinical operations and delivering a high-quality patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and visit information.
- Support orthopedic providers with clinical procedures, patient preparation, and follow-up care.
- Assist with additional specialty coverage, including primary care and cardiology, as needed.
- Perform clinical tasks such as injections, specimen collection, and basic wound care within scope.
- Document all patient interactions and clinical information accurately in the EMR.
- Manage patient flow to ensure timely and efficient visits.
- Maintain exam rooms, including stocking supplies and ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
- Provide patient education and reinforce provider instructions.
- Float between specialties within the clinic to support daily operations.
- Rooming patients, perform vitals, phlebotomy/blood work, schedule patients, EKG, and answer EPIC inbasket.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program (certificate required).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient setting.
- Strong clinical skills, including vital signs and direct patient care support.
- Ability to work across multiple specialties, with a focus in orthopedics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in orthopedics or a multispecialty clinic.
- Experience with casting/splinting or orthopedic procedures.
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
Skills
- Technical skills: EPIC, blood draw, vital signs, phlebotomy.
- CMA experience required.
Hours
- Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
