MLS/MT (ASCP), AMT or other national accreditation required. Meets CLIA requirements for high complexity testing personnel.
## Job Summary
Our client is seeking a passionate and skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist responsible for conducting routine and complex laboratory procedures. The role entails making technical decisions, handling quality control measures, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment while ensuring compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA requirements.
## Responsibilities
- Determines the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established laboratory criteria.
- Performs laboratory technical procedures, ensuring quality control requirements are met.
- Handles technical decisions and resolves issues as they occur.
- Analyzes test results and addresses atypical findings.
- Documents quality control and resolves QC failures.
- Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Aids in efficient staffing and timely test results.
- Navigates and manages workflows via Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Prepares and evaluates new reagents and controls.
- Validates new instrument/methodologies and supports business growth.
- Develops SOPs and training modules.
- Trains and develops staff; serves as subject matter expert.
- Communicates critical results following HIPAA guidelines.
- Acts as departmental leader in supervisor’s absence.
- Maintains a clean, safe work environment and serves as a role model.
- Participates in government or regulatory agency inspections as needed.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
## Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements### Education- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, or Medical Technology program from an accredited institution.## Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high complexity laboratory.
- Competency in all assays within the designated department.
## Schedule / Shift
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM with alternating weekend rotations. Mid-shift or PM shifts may be required.
