Job Summary
Our client is seeking a skilled Resolution Specialist to manage credit balance accounts, ensuring accurate balance confirmation and correct refund or payer notification actions. The role will involve auditing, processing refunds, and communicating with insurance payers and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate credit balance accounts to confirm accurate balances and determine appropriate refund or payer notification actions.
- Review contractual terms and allowable adjustments to ensure correct application and compliance.
- Communicate with insurance payers and patients to verify mailing addresses and correct payee information.
- Assemble and process refund documentation for both payer and patient refunds.
- Contact insurance companies to follow up on refund requests and gather any additional required details.
- Audit accounts to confirm accurate payment posting prior to refund processing.
- Compile refund activity into an approval-ready spreadsheet for executive review.
- Reach out to patients or estates to validate refund eligibility and confirm correct delivery information.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 5 years of experience in medical billing and collections, with progressively increasing responsibility.
- Experience and strong understanding of Credits, Reimbursements and Payment Posting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and medical billing software.
- Experience using email, internet-based tools, and standard office equipment in a professional setting.
- Some college coursework or post-secondary education preferred.
- Experience with data analysis or payment processing preferred.
- Advanced Excel or reporting capabilities preferred.
- Comfortable adapting to new systems, tools, or workflows preferred.
Experience
- 5 years of experience in medical billing and collections.
- Experience and strong understanding of Credits, Reimbursements, and Payment Posting.
Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and medical billing software.
