Job Summary

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Ophthalmic Technician to join their outpatient clinic team. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on ophthalmic experience who are passionate about patient care and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. No certification or license is required; however, prior ophthalmic technician experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary patient workups, including medical history, visual acuity, and chief complaint documentation.
• Conduct diagnostic testing such as OCT, visual fields, tonometry, pachymetry, and lensometry.
• Assist physicians with eye examinations, procedures, and minor in-office treatments.
• Administer eye drops and prepare patients for dilation.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Clean, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic equipment.
• Educate patients on procedures, medications, and post-visit care instructions.
• Ensure clinic flow runs efficiently while maintaining high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or in an ophthalmology clinic.
• Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a busy outpatient setting.
• Excellent communication and patient service skills.
• Proficiency with EMR systems preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience assisting in minor surgical or laser procedures preferred.
• Familiarity with retinal imaging and specialty testing preferred.
