Job Summary
Our client is seeking a proactive Broker Assistant with a strong healthcare background to handle inbound calls, assist members in accessing services, and manage provider communications effectively. This role is crucial in ensuring members understand how to access covered and non-covered services and guiding them through the grievance and appeals process while supporting interdisciplinary care teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle incoming telephone calls, answer questions for members and providers, and assist members in accessing necessary services in line with the plan of care.
- Conduct post-enrollment orientation activities for members and their families.
- Explain the plan’s rules for obtaining services and assist members in making appointments with healthcare providers.
- Respond to member questions and grievances, advising on the prerogative to complain to regulatory bodies, and log grievances.
- Facilitate communication between members, subcontractors, providers, and Care Managers.
- Conduct medication reminder phone calls under the direction of the Interdisciplinary Care Team.
- Assist members with the renewal of their Medicaid benefits.
- Participate in special projects according to program needs.
Qualifications
- Healthcare background, prefer experience at a health plan.
- Bilingual proficiency preferred, with a preference for Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, or Spanish.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience in Health Care.
- Experience with PCs and related software, including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills
- Proficient in healthcare provider services and payment systems, including Medicaid and Medicare.
- Strong planning, organizing, and problem-analysis skills.
- Effective communication and diplomacy in handling sensitive issues.
