Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join their team. This position involves obtaining and processing biological specimens, maintaining laboratory practices, and ensuring the smooth flow of laboratory operations while collaborating with health center staff to meet regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain urine and blood samples, run point-of-care testing, and prepare specimens for transport.
- Maintain knowledge of laboratory practices, specimen integrity, and accreditation standards.
- Wash and prepare instruments for sterilization, assist with room cleaning, stocking, and inventory maintenance.
- Operate laboratory centrifuges and perform blood collection techniques.
- Remain focused and productive in stressful situations, managing patient interactions effectively.
- Decipher the correct method for drawing blood based on patient needs.
- Coordinate lab flow and monitor waiting areas.
- Schedule lab appointments and manage point-of-care testing controls.
- Participate in community outreach and ongoing education organization.
- Work collaboratively to meet JCAHO accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Phlebotomy Technician Certificate (e.g., CPT, RPT) required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS or CPR Certificate required.
- At least one year of phlebotomy experience required.
- Bilingual communication skills in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese highly preferred.
