Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Accounts Receivable Specialist to efficiently manage and optimize clinical documentation processes. The primary goal is to enhance clinical documentation accuracy and compliance with national industry standards, thereby supporting patient care and hospital revenue integrity.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Clinical Documentation Governance: Conduct comprehensive concurrent and retrospective reviews of patient records to ensure clinical indicators accurately reflect the severity of illness (SOI) and risk of mortality (ROM).
- Provider Engagement & Query Management: Facilitate clinically sound, compliant queries to medical staff to clarify complex diagnoses, procedures, and POA status, adhering strictly to national industry standards.
- Strategic Education: Deliver targeted documentation training to providers and medical staff, identifying longitudinal trends and supporting the onboarding process for new clinicians.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with Coding, Quality, and Case Management teams to reconcile documentation gaps and ensure accurate code assignment, HCC capture, and audit readiness.
- Metrics & Compliance Oversight: Monitor departmental KPIs, including query response rates and documentation improvement trends, while maintaining adherence to CMS and third-party payer regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Active clinical licensure or certification (RN, MD, NP, PA, or equivalent) with 1–2 years of recent clinical or CDI-specific experience, OR relevant Coding background in addition to recent CDI experience.
Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of disease processes, ICD-10-CM/PCS coding concepts, and DRG/HCC methodologies.
- Exceptional professional communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to provide real-time feedback to physicians and executive leadership.
- Proficiency in various Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms and the ability to work independently in a high-volume, accuracy-driven environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required regional safety and workplace conduct certifications (including fire safety and specialized behavioral response training) within 30 days of hire.
Experience
- 1-2 years of recent clinical or CDI-specific experience.
Skills
- Technical expertise in disease processes, ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, and DRG/HCC methodologies.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in various EHR platforms.
Schedule / Shift
Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
