Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Financial Counselor to manage financial clearance and ensure data integrity for registered accounts. The role involves coordinating with case management, securing necessary authorizations, and serving as a liaison for patient financial matters. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate revenue cycle documentation and providing support for diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Manage the end-to-end verification of insurance benefits, ensuring accuracy of payer sources and billing data.
- Coordinate with Case Management and Utilization Review teams to secure necessary authorizations and reference numbers.
- Identify patient financial responsibility and counsel patients on non-covered services.
- Maintain comprehensive account notes to prevent claim denials.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for patient intake and necessary consents.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- CPAT certification or relevant college coursework is highly preferred.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, insurance verification, or a physician’s office/admissions setting.
- Strong proficiency in patient accounting systems, medical terminology, and complex insurance payer structures.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required regional safety and workplace conduct certifications within 30 days of hire.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with proven ability to collaborate and maintain patient confidentiality.
Skills
- Bilingual: English/Spanish or English/Armenian is preferred.
- Meditech EMR experience is a plus.
