Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Document Imaging Specialist responsible for preparing, scanning, and uploading patient medical records into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The primary goal is to ensure all documents are accurately indexed, reviewed for quality, and in compliance with HIPAA and organizational privacy policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, scan, and upload patient medical records into the EHR system.
- Ensure all documents are accurately indexed and assigned to the correct patient records.
- Review scanned documents for quality, clarity, and completeness.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and organizational privacy policies.
- Organize and maintain physical records prior to and after scanning.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies or missing documentation.
- Collaborate with HIM and clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation workflows.
- Perform routine audits to ensure scanning accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain scanning equipment and report technical issues as needed.
- Meet productivity and quality benchmarks established by leadership.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience in medical records or document imaging.
- 2+ years of experience with EMR systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system (e.g., CureMD, ECW).
- Familiarity with document management or scanning software.
- Experience in Health Information Management (HIM) workflows.
- RHIT or RHIA certification (a plus, not required).
Skills
- Proficient in EMR systems and document imaging.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Schedule/Shift
Monday 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM; Tuesday–Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
