Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Patient Accounting Supervisor – AR, responsible for managing accounts receivable operations. This role focuses on ensuring timely reimbursement, optimizing cash flow, and reducing outstanding balances by overseeing AR follow-up, denial management, and process improvements. The Supervisor will also lead a team and collaborate across departments to address billing issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the AR team, including insurance follow-up, denial resolution, and collections.
- Monitor and manage AR aging reports, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding claims.
- Analyze trends in denials and underpayments; implement strategies to improve reimbursement rates.
- Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Review team productivity and quality metrics; provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with Patient Access, Coding, and Billing teams to resolve front-end and mid-cycle issues impacting AR.
- Escalate complex payer issues and work with leadership on resolution strategies.
- Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process improvements.
- Support month-end close activities and reporting related to AR performance.
- Maintain strong knowledge of payer contracts, reimbursement methodologies, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, with a strong focus on Accounts Receivable.
- 1–2+ years of supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of insurance follow-up, denial management, and payer guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial).
- Experience with EMR/Practice Management systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
